What is Spender?

Spender is an iOS expense tracking app that automatically imports and categorizes transactions from banking SMS messages. It automates tracking for all digital transactions (cards, UPI, transfers) that send SMS notifications, eliminating manual entry for 95% of your spending.

How does it work?

Spender works via an iOS Shortcut that connects your Messages app to our on-device SMS Analyzer. When you receive a transaction SMS, the Shortcut sends the text to the Spender app, which uses machine learning to extract the amount, merchant, and account details instantly.

Is Spender free?

Spender offers a free tier that includes manual tracking, account management, and basic reporting. The automatic SMS parsing feature requires a premium subscription.

Compatibility & Banks

Which banks are supported?

Spender works with any bank that sends transaction notifications via SMS. The parser uses generalized pattern recognition to identify transaction details regardless of the specific format.

What are the system requirements?

The main Spender app requires iOS 18.0 or later. However, the Smart SMS Analyzer feature specifically requires iOS 26.0+ due to advanced automation capabilities.

Does it work internationally?

Yes. Spender supports multiple currencies and banking formats globally. If your bank sends SMS notifications in English (or supported formats), Spender can parse them.

Privacy & Security

Where is my data stored?

All data is stored locally on your device using iOS secure storage. We do not have any servers, and your data is never transmitted to us.

Can I export my data?

Yes, you can export your transaction history to PDF and CSV/Excel formats at any time for backup or analysis in other tools.
